Happy Thoughts & Happy Tears

August 5, 2019

10 Months To Go! We've booked all the big important things... well, the venue and the church? I can't help but daydream and get excited about all the little decorations (or as my granddad would have said) the "happy thoughts" for our big day!

Here's a collection of "happy thoughts" I have squirrelled-away, photographed and remembered from weddings I have played at over the years and will be totally stealing for our big day...

Family Photographs...

I have seen this so many times, but I never tire of looking at old wedding photos. I LOVE looking at all the fashions, flowers and hairstyles - but most importantly all the happiness and admiration in each photograph. Without these special memories - we wouldn't be here today! Have a look at my beautiful Nana and Grandad Pete... They tied the knot in the 50's and Nana had an 18 inch waist! I never met my Grandad, but Nana tells me he was the kindest most perfect man you could ever wish to meet. I think they look like film-stars. I can't wait to gather ALL the family photographs to decorate our venue, The Craven Arms.

Handmade With Love...

There is something so honest and heart warming about making your own decorations for your wedding day - it takes time, dedication and a lot of thought. They also add such a personal touch. I remember laughing so hard reading this little note on Shaun & Kirsty's Wedding day at Browsholme Hall last July!

I also fell in love with these handmade dream catchers at The Craven Arms for Rebecca and Scotts Wedding - perfect for their mid-summer-festival theme. The ladies had made these on the Hen Do too!

Baby You Can Drive MY Car...

Who needs fancy a Wedding Car when you love your own car? I am a secret car geek - just ask Ali - so I LOVE a good nosey at what cars people arrive in! I have seen it all from camper-vans to horse-and-cart! Just like Becci & Jonnie arriving in their Land Rover to Bashall Barn last May, my bridesmaids will be getting a spin in my beloved Ringo the VW Beetle!

All The Colour Theme...

When I arrived to The Wellbeing Farm for Rachel and Sean's wedding last May, not only did they have a Llama make an appearance, they had ALL the colours as their colour theme and it made me SO happy! Everywhere you looked they had a colourful ribbon here and a wild-flower there - just my style! It was bold, brave and most definitely beautiful.

We Are Family...

Traditions are made to be broken - especially choosing which side of church to sit on! I have seen these signs at almost every wedding and I think the sentiment is perfect. This beautiful handmade sign was from Lea & Anthony's special day at Mytton Fold last September.

Happy Thoughts and Happy Tears...

This is my most recent wedding steal! Thank you to Luke and Amy who got married just last week at Beeston Mannor for this beauty of an idea. These tissues definitely caught lots and lots of happy tears during their wedding ceremony.

Stay Cosy...

When your best friend is a pinterest QUEEN - Ash always has the best ideas! If you haven't read my previous blogs, you might not know I crochet like it's going out of fashion... has it ever been in fashion? Anyway... me and Ali's Mum, Sue, are going to be getting our crochet on before the big day to make a basket full of snuggly blankets for when it get's a bit cooler in the evening time.

Wannabe Yourselves...

Here's one final personal touch that really made me chuckle at Danielle's Wedding at Hogton Tower back in 2016. Every table name was a Spice Girls song and this was the top table... 2 become 1. Not that we'll be having anything Spice Girl themed... but I do think it's really important for your individual personalities to shine through in every way! Too Much?

I do have a few more unique ideas for our big day... but I don't want to give away too much too soon! You'll just have to keep posted.
