The Wedding Singer's Take Me Back Tuesday - Real Weddings #1
I thought it would be a lovely opportunity to share some 'real weddings' on my new blog!
Meet Jeanette & Trevor...
Adam and I had the pleasure of playing at their wedding back in May at the exquisite Mitton Hall. The crazy little thing about Jeanette and Trevor is that they planned their big day in just 9 weeks!! You can't even say they rushed into it as they have been together for 20 years! We LOVED getting to know the couple over the few months they had to plan their wedding - helping them decide which songs to pick to make their day truly unique.
Jeanette's Bridal Entrance was a modern-day classic: A Thousand Years by Christina Perri. The lyrics are truly magical and instantly create a romantic atmosphere for the big, captivating moment...
"Heart beats fast Colors and promises How to be brave? How can I love when I'm afraid to fall
But watching you stand alone? All of my doubt suddenly goes away somehow
One step closer
I have died everyday waiting for you Darling don't be afraid I have loved you For a thousand years I'll love you for a thousand more
Time stands still..."
Whilst the couple where singing the register they requested we learnt Better Together by Jack Johnson. Adam & I LOVED learning this one! We always take a request for each and every wedding we play at - taking pride and dedication in learning and perfecting every number! This really makes each wedding truly unique and individual.
Better Together brought a joyous, happy, upbeat, summery feel to the ceremony. The lyrics are real, nostalgic and a celebration of a long-term-happy relationship.
"There is no combination of words I could put on the back of a postcard No song that I could sing, but I can try for your heart Our dreams, and they are made out of real things Like a, shoe box of photographs With sepia-toned loving...
It's always better when we're together Yeah, we'll look at the stars when we're together.."
Jeanette and Trevor chose another modern-day-classic, One Day Like This by Elbow, for when they joined hands to exit their ceremony together...
"Throw those curtains wide! One day like this a year'd see me right..."
Adam and I LOVE playing this song together - it's so uplifting, liberating and inspiring. (It might be the fact we're Northern too - we have to appreciate the Manchester musicians!)
We always advise to pick an up-beat song for when you walk out of the ceremony - it really gets your congregation in a happy mood! We love watching them all dancing out of their seats and singing along. This song was perfect for that moment.
As well as playing in Trevor & Jeanette's Wedding Ceremony - we performed during their drinks reception too! We played our full set list over the 2 hours - including the couples favourites; Songbird by Eva Cassidy... Fields Of Gold by Sting... Perfect by Ed Sheeran and... Somewhere Only We Know by Keane.
It was such a beautiful spring afternoon - it really was an honour to play for a fabulous, happy, appreciative couple. You could really tell they loved every single second of their big day!
